Bio-attributed products are developed through a mass balance model.
[adjective] In this chain-of-custody system, renewable or bio-based raw materials are mixed with conventional fossil-based ones. A portion of the final product is then attributed to renewable feedstock, even if the physical content is a blend. This approach allows companies to transition toward renewable inputs.
e.g. A bio-attributed nylon yarn may contain both fossil and bio-based raw materials, but part of its content is credited to renewable sources.
