Wer an Netzstrumpfhosen denkt, hat nicht unbedingt Fischernetze im Sinn. Doch genau das ist die Idee einer europäischen Initiative, die aus alten Fischernetzen Textilien herstellen möchte. Hintergrund ist, dass rund 10 Prozent des weltweiten Plastikmülls verlorengegangene Fischernetze sind. Insgesamt soll die Menge der herrenlosen und für die Meerestiere höchst gefährlichen Netze laut UN-Schätzungen bei 640.000 Tonnen liegen.
