MALAIKA NEW YORK is a Zero Waste company based in New York, launched on Earth Day 2016. Their mission is to make sustainable fashion sexy and to give fashionable women a home in the sustainable fashion industry. They believe that there should be a sustainable option for everyone.
Sustainability is on the forefront of all of Malaika New York designs. All of their garments are sampled in house to make sure their Zero Waste concept is being utilized for each garment. Their sustainability ranges from Zero Waste garments (1-3 % waste compared to industry average of 30%), optimized sizing, donating a tree for each garment sold, unisex garments, made locally in New York, no plastic packaging, season-less collections, up-cycled materials & regenerated fabrics such as ECONYL® Fiber made from nylon waste saved from landfill & Oceans.
Their latest collection called the “Square Project” included ECONYL® Fiber. The collection included vests, tops, skirts & dresses all made out of squares & zero waste patterns to underline the importance of zero waste and renewable resources.
