Trento, Italy – 03/31/16 – Aquafil today announces a new partnership between its ECONYL® brand and Levi Strauss & Co., one of the world’s largest apparel companies and a global leader in jeans, to create a new men’s collection made from regenerated nylon from waste materials such as fishing nets and spent carpets.
Levi Strauss & Co. has a long history of caring — both for the communities in which they operate and live, and for the environment. The collection, the Levi’s brand’s first made with ECONYL®, provides further proof of Levi’s commitment to a sustainable supply chain.
Looking into the future, there’s no guarantee that there will be enough land available to meet global demand for cotton, the main input for the Denim apparel. So to be a successful company in a world that is increasingly resource-constrained, Levi’s need to continue down the road toward achieving closed-loop apparel — while incorporating other alternatives to virgin raw materials.
