Bonazzi to highlight innovations in fashion that help sustain our environment including ECONYL®

Cartersville, GA, February 11, 2019Aquafil, a leading manufacturer of ECONYL® regenerated nylon through innovative recycling technology, announced today that its chairman and chief executive officer, Giulio Bonazzi will be a featured speaker at Fashinnovation during New York Fashion Week on Wednesday, February 13. Bonazzi will be speaking in a sidefire chat with Natasha Berg, founding chair of Oceanic Global, a conservation group, about sustainability and the circular economy in fashion.

Nylon waste from landfills and oceans around the world including fishnets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic is transformed into ECONYL® regenerated nylon. Using ECONYL® regenerated nylon also reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 80% compared with the material generated from oil.

Leaders in fashion including ADIDAS, Levi Strauss & Co., H&M, Stella McCartney, Breitling, Mara Hoffman, Gucci and Volcom have all incorporated ECONYL® into their material sourcing strategy in recent years.

“Sustainability is a vital issue in our increasingly resource challenged world. Our mission at Aquafil is to create innovative solutions so that everyday items don’t have to come at the expense of the environment. We look forward to continuing our work with fashion industry leaders to redefine how they select, source and design with regenerated materials. We appreciate Fashinnovations’ focus on this topic,” Bonazzi said.

“Our mission is to facilitate conversations between the leaders in the fashion and tech industries, so that both parties can always have a finger on the pulse on the latest in innovation, while inspiring an entrepreneurial mindset. We believe the work that Aquafil is doing with regenerated nylon and the innovative methods the company has deployed for sourcing waste and recycling it is inspirational. We’re thrilled to have Mr. Bonazzi as a Fashinnovator this year and look forward to his insights, ” said Jordana Guimaraes, co-founder of Fashinnovation.
