VOGUE – The Queen Is Officially A Conscious Fashion Influencer
by Alice Cary
When it comes to her wardrobe, the Queen’s green leanings are not limited to her famously bold colour palette (the Stabilo green suit she wore for her 90th birthday celebrations will go down in royal fashion history). Her Majesty’s choices are increasingly conscious, as well as colourful, and it seems that where the Queen leads, the nation follows. According to Lyst’s 2020 Conscious Fashion Report, compiled from searches carried out by 100 million customers on the platform over the past 12 months, the announcement that the monarch would no longer wear fur in November 2019 prompted a 52 per cent spike in views of faux fur products.
The Duchess of Sussex is also a passionate supporter of sustainable brands, and after she was seen toting a Prada duffle bag made from recycled fabric in February, Lyst recorded a 12 per cent increase in searches for the brand. The launch of its Econyl range in June 2019 also prompted a 102 per cent spike in searches for the recycled nylon fabric.
