Following tie-up last year with Speedo, Italian materials manufacturer Aquafil announces new closed-loop swimwear collaboration with Volcom

US lifestyle brand Volcom will enter the swimwear market for the first time next year with a new range of sustainable bathing suits created in collaboration with Italian materials manufacturer Aquafil.

The Simply Solid Spring 2017 women’s swimwear collection, announced yesterday, will be made using Aquafil’s ECONYL® fibre – a new form of nylon made using 100 per cent waste material.

Aquafil claims ECONYL®, which is made from discarded fishing nets and other nylon waste, offers the same quality and performance of traditional nylon but can be regenerated indefinitely. Econyl will make up 78 per cent of the new collection.
