Bonazzi to discuss technological innovation in textiles and its impact on the environment

Cartersville, GA, January 21, 2019 – Aquafil, a leading manufacturer of ECONYL® regenerated nylon through innovative recycling technology, announced today that its chairman and chief executive officer, Giulio Bonazzi will be speaking on a panel at Texworld USA on the topic of technological innovation in textiles and its impact on the environment. This year’s Texworld USA conference has a focus on sustainability. The Modern Textiles panel that Bonazzi is participating on takes place on Wednesday, January 23 at 2:00pm and is moderated by Lauren Fay, executive director of The New Fashion Initiative.

Nylon waste from landfills and oceans around the world including fishnets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic is transformed into ECONYL® regenerated nylon. It’s exactly the same as brand new nylon and can be recycled, recreated and remolded again and again. For every 10,000 tons of ECONYL® raw material, 70,000 barrels of crude oil are saved and 57,100 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions are avoided. Using ECONYL® regenerated nylon also reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 80% compared with the material generated from oil.

Leaders in fashion including ADIDAS, H&M, Stella McCartney, Breitling, Mara Hoffman, Gucci and Volcom have all incorporated ECONYL® into their collections successfully.

I look forward to discussing our views that you can achieve quality, style, innovation and sustainability in textiles today with the industry leaders at Texworld. In a circular economy industry, we should manufacture everything with the end in mind, and ECONYL® is one powerful ingredient in this pivotal journey,” said Bonazzi.

The ECONYL® story dispels the myth that sustainability isn’t sustainable in business,” said Lauren Fay, founder of The New Fashion Initiative. “I am looking forward to having Mr. Bonazzi share with the Texworld USA audience how his company is successfully recycling waste into a textile ingredient that can be so widely used in fashion.
