Made from Aquafil’s 100 percent regenerated nylon,
the brand furthers its commitment to conserving our oceans

June 21, 2017. London. As part of Stella McCartney’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and the conservation of our oceans, the designer is focusing on solution oriented products. Stella McCartney’s latest edition is the Autumn 2017 collection of Falabella GO bags, now made with Aquafil’s 100 percent regenerated ECONYL® yarn. The yarn is made of converted ocean waste, further expanding Stella McCartney’s efforts to clean up our oceans through the use of alternative materials.
Every 10,000 tons of ECONYL® produced saves 70 thousand barrels of crude oil by avoiding extraction. Aquafil’s ECONYL® Regeneration System diverts waste from landfills and oceans through the recovery of abandoned fishing nets and other discarded nylon waste. This waste is reborn through Aquafil’s innovative regeneration system – a pioneering example of the circular economy. It offers the same quality and performance as traditional nylon, but with the ability to be regenerated an infinite number of times without any loss in quality.
As a vegetarian brand that never uses leather, fur, skins or feather in any products for both ethical and environmental reasons, Stella McCartney has made a firm commitment to being a responsible and modern company. By using ECONYL® yarn in her upcoming Falabella GO collection, Stella McCartney is turning sustainability commitments into actions.
“This partnership represents the future of fashion,” said Aquafil CEO, Giulio Bonazzi. “It proves that when sustainable ingredients are of the highest quality, they will be adopted by brands from sportswear to luxury. When sustainability is treated with the same reverence as performance and quality, we see beautiful and impactful collections take the stage.”
Stella McCartney’s Falabella GO bags feature the signature braided Falabella chain detail designed for both play and function. The Autumn 2017 bags will be available online and in stores worldwide next month at retail prices ranging from $260 for a cosmetics case to $1,025 for a travel duffle.
