JUST-STYLE – Napapijri receives gold Cradle to Cradle certification
By Beth Wright
VF Corp’s casual wear brand Napapijri has received gold-level certification for its Circular Series of recyclable jackets from the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute.
To gain C2C certification, products must be independently assessed for environmental and social performance across five sustainability categories: material health, material reuse (which can be achieved via either a biological or technical cycle), renewable energy and carbon management, water stewardship, and social fairness.
Launching this autumn, the Circular Series is a “first-ever” collection of 100% recyclable jackets, according to Napapijri which says the line will include three jackets – Circular Anorak, Circular Rainforest, and Circular Puffer – all constructed using Econyl regenerated nylon, made from waste materials including discarded fishing nets.
Napapijri first introduced a 100% sustainable jacket in late 2019 with the launch of the Infinity jacket, a remake of Napapijri’s iconic Skidoo jacket, which debuted in 1987. Developed and tested over the course of three years, the latest iteration of Infinity also uses Econyl regenerated nylon and Nylon 6.
