The Irish-born designer bought colourful silhouettes and ethical fabrics to the catwalk

London Fashion Week kicked off this morning with emerging creative force Richard Malone topping the bill.
Citing everything from micro-fibre cleaning cloths “bulk bought on Amazon” to “bad taste Paris wine bars”, the 26-year-old designer presented a collection which put an empowered sense of femininity first.
Since his debut on the London Fashion Week catwalk last year, Malone has been keen to incorporate ethical fabrics into his label. This season ECONYL® – a regenerative nylon which can be continually reused – formed this collection’s backbone and was showcased alongside bags created in partnership with like-minded brand Freitag crafted from recycled tarpaulin taken from the sides of trucks.
It is Malone’s consideration of the ethical challenges facing the fashion industry that made him the perfect name to launch the most socially conscious London Fashion Week in history.
