Why are you still using nylon made from oil?

Made from waste like fishing nets and old carpets, ECONYL® regenerated nylon is transforming the flooring, furniture, automotive and fashion industries.

THE PROBLEM

Our planet is growing hotter and hotter by the year. The extraction and processing of natural resources currently accounts for one half of total greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. Meanwhile, abandoned waste in landfills is burned in open fires, contributing to nearly 5% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Whether it's interior design, fashion or automotive, we’re designing products that deplete natural resources and create waste in the process. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

THE SOLUTION

Design sits prominently at the heart of the solution. Designers can influence up to 80% of a product environmental footprint with their early design decisions by choosing sustainable ingredients that are recycled and recyclable.

Further, design is also at the heart of the circular economy. It’s calculated that by applying circular strategies to just five of the most common materials in our economy – cement, aluminum, steel, plastic and food – we can eliminate 9.3 billion tonnes of CO2 by 2050. We can help!
With a 90% reduction in global warming potential compared to virgin nylon, our ECONYL® nylon is already used by more than 1,000 leading design and fashion brands across the world. We turn waste problems into interior solutions so that you can create new products without using new resources.

How we work

Designers & Architects
What if you could design beautiful spaces without tapping into new resources? What if just by choosing a different ingredient, with no compromise in quality or performance, you could impact up to 80% of its environmental footprint?
Specify products made with ECONYL® nylon to create beautiful contracts, hospitality and residential spaces while earning LEED credits.
Manufacturers
In the US alone, sales of products with sustainable attributes are expected to make up to 25% of store sales by 2021 and are already growing 5.6 times faster than those that are not sustainable. The growth of the sustainable design and building industries reflects wider pressures on manufacturers to create products that have a lower carbon impact through third-party environmental product declarations (EPDs). Check how we can support.
Automotive Manufacturers
ECONYL® automotive solutions meet the highest quality, durability and safety standards top global car manufacturers demand. And by using ECONYL® carpet yarn in car upholstery, carpeting and mats, you contribute to green driving in an industry that’s increasingly committed to sustainability.
Waste Collectors & Municipalities
We’re closing the loop when it comes to carpet. Our two U.S. recycling plants each have the capacity to recover 36 million pounds of old carpets each year, turning that waste into new material.
