ECONYL® regenerated nylon will be celebrating its 10-year anniversary during NeoCon, North America’s largest design exposition and conference for commercial interiors, which takes place October 4-6, 2021 in Chicago.

Aquafil, makers of ECONYL® regenerated nylon, will focus on sustainability in design during the conference at its showroom at theMart.

ECONYL® regenerated nylon was launched by Aquafil in 2011 after four years of research and development, which started in 2007. Today, ECONYL® is specified by more than 2,000 brands in the fashion industry from Adidas to Speedo and in the interiors world by Interface, Delos, Tarkett, BMW and Mercedes Benz.

Since 2011, nylon waste that would otherwise pollute the Earth, including fishing nets and old carpets, is transformed into ECONYL® regenerated nylon, boasting the same qualities as fossil fuels-based nylon. ECONYL® can be recycled, recreated, and remoulded again and again.

ECONYL® regenerated nylon is an important solution for the planet as for every 10,000 tons of ECONYL® raw material, 70,000 barrels of crude oil are saved, and 65,100 tonnes of CO2 eq. emissions are avoided.

At NeoCon, there will be the announcement of a new modern line of rugs made with 100 percent ECONYL® yarn in partnership with Delos. During the conference, moreover, the new ECONYL® online store for conscious consumers will be highlighted. The online store currently features clothing and accessories made with ECONYL® yarn and is expanding its line to include interior products in the future.

We are excited to feature the latest designs made with ECONYL® at NeoCon in Chicago this year,” said Giulio Bonazzi, chairman and chief executive officer of Aquafil Group. “We’re so proud that we have been able to move the industry toward more sustainable practices over the last decade while continuing to work with our partners to make beautiful products.

Choosing sustainable practices and materials to create beautiful spaces is one of the most pivotal and impactful design challenges of our time. Read more about why mindful design matters by Giulio Bonazzi on the NeoCon Blog: https://neocon.com/blog/why-mindful-design-matters
