Stella McCartney launches its first Close-the-Loop parka in ECONYL® yarn

Launched as part of the Stella McCartney Spring 2023 collection, the Close-the-Loop Parka is the luxury fashion industry’s first circular garment to ‘close the loop’. It is crafted with 100% ECONYL® nylon and at the end of its useful life it can be taken back and fully recycled with the partnership of Aquafil.

Lightweight and waterproof, the hooded jacket comes in a beautiful Lime Green colour and is kitted out with storm flaps, long sleeves and multiple pockets. The parka is circular as is a monomaterial garment entirely made from ECONYL® nylon (main fabric, zippers and poppers) to ensure everything can be recycled, and has a printed QR code inside the jacket to prevent additional labels and to keep the information tied to the garment forever.

The Close-the-Loop parka represents another step towards the Stella McCartney vision.

The brand acknowledges that its responsibility for the materials that it puts out does not end at the point of sale, and it’s committed to keeping those products in circulation through cleaning guidance, repair services and resale partnerships. When products reach their end of life, they can enter the close-the-loop take-back scheme to be recycled into new products.

This is Stella McCartney’s first-ever product designed for disassembly that can be taken back at the end of its life and sent back to the ECONYL® regeneration system to be recycled into new ECONYL® yarn, in partnership with Aquafil.
