After announcing the cooperation of a sustainable denim collection with market leader Levi Strauss & Co., Aquafil is expanding their course for environmental friendly nylon production. The Italian yarn manufacturer and the long-established company Kunert are planning the conception of an exclusive pair of tights, KUNERT BLUE, which systematically focuses on sustainability – from 100 percent regenerated ECONYL® Nylon yarn to ecological packaging.
“With the expert for stockings, tights and socks, we are happy to have won another partner, who shares our vision for a sustainable textile production“, explains Giulio Bonazzi, CEO of Aquafil and initiator of the ECONYL® Regeneration System. What makes the sustainable tights by Kunert so special, in addition to the design, is how they are produced: the yarn is made from nylon that is  regenerated from textile waste and old fishing nets found in the ocean. Justina Rokita, CEO of Kunert, explains: “ECONYL® fiber offers the same quality as newly produced nylon yarn, and therefore perfectly suits our high standards for comfort and durability.”

Some samples of these new tights were the giveaways for guests at this year’s GreenTec Awards in Munich. They will be available on the market in January 2017.
