ECONYL® regenerated nylon is once again on display, this time inside the magnificent Palazzo Reale in Milan. From 24 March to 25 June 2023, the photographic exhibition “Helmut Newton Legacy” is set up on a carpet of over 1300 square meters created by Radici with ECONYL® regenerated nylon.

For the centenary of Newton’s birth, Palazzo Reale in collaboration with the Helmut Newton Foundation of Berlin is hosting a big retrospective with 250 works. The exhibition traces the entire career of one of the most loved and discussed photographers of all time through 250 photographs, magazines, documents and videos divided into chronological chapters that lead visitors through all the phases and evolutions of Newton’s life and career.

The staging project involves the use of recycled, recyclable and reusable materials: the floor covering is a big carpet created by the Aquafil Group in collaboration with Radici using ECONYL® regenerated nylon, to allow horizontal chromatic uniformity, guarantee a significant absorption of light and avoid light reflections, while MDF panels used on the walls are produced with recycled wood covered with archival cotton fabrics supplied by Tessuti di Sondrio/Gruppo Marzotto.

At the end of the exhibition, the material used for the staging will regain new life thanks to dedicated projects. A part of the dismantled carpet will be cut into large-sized portions and assigned to ten artists who have joined a creative post-use project: Beppe Giacobbe, Michele Tranquillini, Valentina Grilli, Francesca Bazzurro, Guido Scarabottolo, Francesca Zoboli, Carlo Stanga and the calligrapher Luca Barcellona will transform the carpet recovered from the exhibition into works dedicated to the theme of environmental sustainability.
The unique pieces will then be auctioned off and the proceeds donated to non-profit organizations.

ECONYL® regenerated nylon is also featured in the chairs used by the museum attendants, the noho move™ chairs. A chair designed with an eye to the future and produced by the famous Formway design studio with only two ingredients: recycled polypropylene for the seat and ECONYL® regenerated nylon for the supporting structure. Visitors to the exhibition will have the chance to try its ergonomic comfort at the museum shop right at the end of the exhibition and get a special discount to purchase it on the ECONYL® e-shop.
