Last night we were at the CFDA Awards at the Brooklyn Museum in New York with a beautiful red carpet made by ege carpets with our ECONYL® regenerated nylon. The carpet was not actually a red one, but rather a customized carpet with black and white stripes.

Models, actors and actresses, influencers, designers and editors were welcomed into the Museum walking on our ECONYL® carpet and taking the time to pose for photos. Among them were: Kim Kardashian, British Vogue’s Edward Enninful, Naomi Campbell, Oprah, Diane Von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Donatella Versace, and Claire Danes.

Sustainability is a core CFDA pillar and is the reason why CFDA chose Aquafil and ege to create a carpet for this special event made with ECONYL® regenerated nylon – a fiber that is made entirely from waste and can be recycled infinitely.

As CFDA wrote:

“The process is an education in itself. Italy-based Aquafil takes waste from oceans and landfills, then transforms it into ECONYL® yarn. Said yarn performs in the same way as virgin nylon and can be recycled infinitely without ever losing its quality.”

Of course, as was the case for the Green Carpet Awards in Milan, part of the carpet will be reused and part will be regenerated once again, this time in our new carpet recycling plant in Phoenix.

“The carpet is a testament to how the CFDA is committed to the environment and for good reason”.

The event organizers also made an effort to reduce waste at the event by donating the unused and leftover food to City Harvest.
